How does the referral process work?

Your referrals can start their free trial for Google Workspace by signing up through your unique referral link. They will have the option to apply one of your promotion codes when they first sign up to their 14-day trial period. When your referrals have been paying Google Workspace customers for at least 90 days, they will be reviewed by Google, and you will be eligible for payments. Rewards vary by country. Once you are eligible for payment, you will receive an email notification to fill out your payment form. The reward payment will be deposited in your bank account registered by the end of the following month.

Who can I refer Google Workspace to?

You can refer any business that has not previously started a Google Workspace trial and is not currently a customer of a Google Workspace partner.

You can also refer Google Workspace to any individual who is starting their business and does not have a professional Google domain/account (i.e. Google Workspace).

What is considered an eligible referral?

New Google Workspace customers who are from one of these eligible countries, and have not previously signed up for a Google Workspace trial are eligible as a potential referral. You are eligible to receive reward payments for your referred customer account’s first 100 users, and you can earn rewards for up to 200 users per calendar year. To be eligible to earn rewards for users above this threshold, you may apply to join the Google Workspace Affiliate Program instead.

Where can I find my referral link?

Your referral link can be found in the welcome email you received after registering for the program. The email was sent by the Google Workspace Referral Program Team and you should receive it within 24 hours.

If you can’t find your welcome email, please check your "Promotions” tab in Gmail. You can also contact us with the email address you signed up with if you still can’t find your link.

How much can I earn?

As a member of the Google Workspace Referral Program, you can earn a one-time referral bonus for every new user that signs-up. Bonuses vary by market. For the United States, you can earn up to USD 8 (for the Business Starter plan), USD 15 (for the Business Standard plan), USD 23 (for the Business Plus plan), up to USD 2,300 per domain.

A user is an individual account belonging to the customer domain. Your referral amount will be based on the number of users who have paid for at least 90 days.

How can I track the status of my referrals?

We regularly send out an email that will include the status of your referrals. This email displays the number of:

  1. In-trial Referrals: Referrals who are currently in their 14-day trial.
  2. Potential Paid Referrals: Eligible referrals who are located in any of these eligible countries, and completed their 14-day trial. These referrals may have also used your promotion code, but have not yet completed 90 days of signing up with their new Google Workspace account.
  3. Paid Referrals: Referrals that completed their 90 days as paying Google Workspace account users. After your first referral converts into a paid referral, look out for an email from the Google Workspace Referral Program requesting your bank information.

If you would like to know the number of users your referral has, you can send us a message and we can check how many eligible referrals and seats they have.

My referral forgot to use my referral link. Is there a way to track it back to my account?

We're unable to track referrals back to your account if they did not use your referral link at the time they signed up.

Can I get paid for previous customers I referred before the Referral Program launched or before I signed up?

No. The Referral Program tracks referrals that are new Google Workspace customers. We cannot grant referral credits to customers who have signed up or started a trial before the program launched or before you joined.

Can I refer customers from other countries?

You are allowed and able to refer a customer in any country that is within the same region you are enrolled in. For example, if you are signed up in the United States, the promotion codes you receive can be used for any country in the Americas.

In order to refer a customer in a country outside of your region, you will need to enroll in the Referral Program again for that intended region. For example, if you live in India, you are eligible to refer customers in any country within the Asia Pacific region. However, if you live in India and would like to refer someone in the UK, you must enroll for the EMEA region.

The Google Workspace Referral Program is available in selected regions and countries. You can find the list with more information here. Only referrals from the active list of countries are eligible for referral bonus. In order to receive your bonus from valid referrals, you are required to sign up to the Referral Program, and include your banking details from the same region you signed up.

When will the Referral Program be available in my country?

The Google Workspace Referral Program is currently available in the countries listed here. We are constantly assessing expansion opportunities and hope to expand to your region soon. Let us know where you’re located and how to contact you once we do.

Promotion Codes

How does the promotion code discount work?

If you provide a promotion code to one of your referrals, he/she is entitled to a per-user discount of 10% for the first year as a Google Workspace customer.

If your referral is in the United States, Canada, or EMEA region, they will need to apply your promotion code when providing their billing information, before completing their sign up for the 14-day trial.

If your referral is in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru or APAC region, they will have the option to enter their billing information and your promotional code at any time during the 14-day trial period.

Each promotion code is unique and can only be redeemed by one customer account from a country in the region you are signed up in as a referrer.

If you join the program in multiple regions, Google will provide promotion codes for the relevant regions upon your request, up to 100 promo codes per calendar year.

When should my referral use my promotion code?

When deciding to sign up to Google Workspace, your referral will be eligible for a 14-day trial.

If your referral is in the United States, Canada, or EMEA region, they will need to apply your promotion code when providing their billing information, before completing their sign up for the 14-day trial.

If your referral is in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru or APAC region, they will have the option to enter their billing information and your promotional code at any time during the 14-day trial period.

Where can my customer enter the promotion code?

The promotion code application process varies by country/region.

If your referral is in the United States, Canada, or the EMEA region, they should apply your promotion code during the Google Workspace sign up process, when providing their billing information. The code must be entered when prompted for their payment information, in the "Promotion Code" field, before they checkout.

If your referral is in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru or APAC region, they are able to enter their promotion code at any time during their 14-day trial when selecting their Google Workspace, as long as they have not yet entered their billing information. This can be done in the Billing section of their Admin Console.

My referral forgot to use their promotion code. Can we still get the discount?

If your referral is in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru or APAC region, they are able to enter their promotion code at any time during the trial as long as they have not yet entered their billing information. Unfortunately, this feature is not available with referrals in the NorthAm and EMEA regions, and therefore your customer will not be able to apply the code after starting the trial process.

My promotion code does not work

Upon entering your promotion code, you will see a note about a 10% discount being applied at the bottom of the billing summary that states, "amount plus applicable taxes and VAT minus the promotional discount". Since your referral will be able to change the number of users they have and are able to change Google Workspace plans, the actual monetary amount of the discount will be reflected in the monthly billing.

Payment

I was sent a payment profile to the incorrect country. How can I request a different payment profile link?

When you first sign-up, you must select the country of your residence or business and ensure your bank account is also from the same country. If you signed-up to a country that you are not located in, please reach out to us, so that we can support with any updates needed.

When and how will I get paid?

  1. You will be eligible for your payment once your referral has been a paying Google Workspace customer for at least 90 days.
  2. Once you’re eligible for your first payment, you will receive an email with your payment profile link and instructions to set up your Google Pay account.
  3. You will receive a direct deposit in your bank account each month for any payments you earned and have been validated by Google. In case you don’t have any new referrals in a particular month, no payment will be issued.

How to avoid payment delays

Once your first referral has been a paying Google Workspace customer for more than 90 days, you will receive an email with instructions on how to set up your Payment Profile in Google Pay, so that you can receive your payment. Your Payment Profile link is valid for 2 weeks from the date received.

If you miss the time frame to complete your Payment Profile and your link expires, you may experience a delay in receiving your payment. Once you provide your bank information, your payment will be processed during the following month's cycle. In case your link expires, please reach out to our support team to request a new link.

Why haven’t I received my payment in my bank account?

Payments are processed on a monthly basis. If you did not receive a payment, you will likely receive it during next month’s payment cycle. Please contact us with your account details to verify.

Who needs to fill out the W-8BEN tax form?

If you are not in the United States, but you have referrals located in the United States, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, or Peru, you will need to update your tax information.

Once you have completed your Payment Profile, please enter your tax information by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to the payments profile.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Find "Payments profile" then find "[your country] tax info" and click Edit.
  4. To enter or edit your tax info, click Add tax info or Update tax info.
  5. Answer the questions and click Submit to submit the Certificate of Foreign Status (W-8BEN) to the IRS from within your payments profile.
  6. Click Save.

Note: This step is required by the U.S. to document your foreign status and claim any applicable treaty benefits.

Why is my bank charging me fees?

Fees will depend on your bank and are unrelated to Google. Please also note that Google does not cover these fees. Please contact your bank for more information.

Why is my bank converting the currency for my referrals to my local currency?

Your bank may have to convert the currency of your referral into your local currency. Depending on which country your referral is from Google has no control over the exchange rate and fees associated with this.

My bank is charging me fees that are greater than my referral bonus. Can I hold my payment until my referral bonus covers these bank fees?

Yes, upon receiving your first referral bonus payment, if you are charged any associated bank fees that are greater than the received payment amount, please contact us to request a payment hold until you reach an amount that will cover these initial bank fees. You will collect your payment once you reach your desired referral bonus amount.

International Referrals

Who can I refer to Google Workspace?

If you are a Google Workspace Referral Program member in one of the countries listed on this webpage under 'Americas' or 'Asia Pacific' and 'Europe', you can refer customers that reside in any country listed under the same region you have applied for.

For example: If you signed up in the United States, you can now refer customers that reside in the countries listed under the “Americas” region (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico or Peru).

Can I refer Google Workspace to customers in different countries?

Yes. In order to refer customers in different markets you need:

  1. A Google Workspace Referral Program account with banking information from the same country/region you signed-up for.
  2. Apply to the other region (outside of the current region you’re in) such as ‘Americas’, ‘Asia Pacific’, and/or ‘Europe’ where your referral prospect is based at.

For example: If you have signed up in both the United States and India, you can refer customers that reside in the countries listed under the 'Americas' region using your referral link. Additionally you can also refer customers that reside in the countries listed under the 'Asia Pacific' region.

How much can I earn?

When someone signs up for Google Workspace using your referral link, you’ll earn a referral bonus for each of their first 100 users.

Your referral bonus will be based on the country where your referral resides. The bonus will be deposited directly into your bank account according to the amount and currency listed on this webpage. Check with your bank to be aware of any currency exchange fees that may apply.

AMERICAS
For example: If you are located in the United States and refer a customer to sign up for the Google Workspace Business Standard plan with 10 users in Chile, you'll earn USD 140.

ASIA PACIFIC
For example: If you are located in Australia and refer a customer to sign up for the Google Workspace Business Standard plan with 10 users in Singapore, you'll earn SGD 180. We will deposit the S$180 in your account, which your bank will convert to AUD.

INDIA
Example 1: If you are located in India and refer a customer to sign up for the Google Workspace Business Standard plan with 10 users in India, you'll earn USD 90, which your bank will convert to Rupees.*.
Example 2: If you are located in India and refer a customer to sign up for the Google Workspace Business Standard plan with 10 users in Singapore, you'll earn SGD 180. We will deposit SGD 180 in your account, which your bank will convert to Rupees.*
*Referral bonus rates are based on the country of the referred customer, not the referrer. For example, a referrer in India who refers to someone in Thailand is rewarded at the Thai rate because that is where the customer is located.

EUROPE
For example: If you are located in the United Kingdom and refer a customer to sign up for the Google Workspace Business Standard plan with 10 users in Germany, you'll earn EUR 130. We will deposit the EUR 130 in your account, which your bank will convert to GBP.

What are the next steps I need to take if I decide to refer someone internationally?

To refer to another region, sign up for the Google Workspace Referral Program in the country where your customer is located, or any country in your desired region. Once completed, these changes are effective immediately. Share your referral link and coupons with your referral opportunity. Once your first referral has been a paying Google Workspace customer for more than 90 days, you will receive an email from us to provide your bank information from your country of residence or do business. As you make more referrals, you will continue to receive your rewards deposited into your bank account. If you’ve already given us your bank account information, just keep referring!

How do I earn coupons in these new countries I am planning on referring at?

Please contact us if you need 10% off coupons to give to your customers in these new countries. Please note that you have a limit of requesting 100 promotion codes per year.
